In 2016, the Foundation invested over $2.26 million in grants to improve health and wellness in Spartanburg County. Our grantee partners report that these funds from the Foundation enabled them to leverage an additional $3.6 million for projects in Spartanburg County.
2016 marked the final year of a three-year strategic plan focused on three areas:
Impact: Our work will culminate in results that improve and transform people’s lives.
Engage: We will be a leader in increasing engagement of our citizens and decision-makers in understanding and supporting actions for a healthy community.
Partner: We will leverage and create new Foundation resources through creative collaboration.
Our focus on Early Childhood Development and Healthy Eating | Active Living has allowed us to tackle two critical issues that, if improved, will positively affect many other community challenges. We will continue to advance this agenda through strategic grantmaking, advocacy, policy work, capacity building, and communications. Our vision is for Spartanburg County to be a thriving and connected community where diverse and educated citizens lead active and healthy lives.
